Helen A. Christensen

Helen A.Christensen, 89, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Brookside Care Center.

She was born on March 8, 1923 to the late John and Anna (Zakewicz) Lapcewich in Kenosha. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Kenosha High School.

On October 14, 1943 Helen married Lester T. Christensen at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1978.

Helen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Helen was on bridge and golf leagues for many years. She was an avid reader and knitter, making sweaters and Christmas socks for the whole family.

Helen is survived by her loving children Karen (Henry) Klimowicz of Cottage Grove, Mary (Leo) Gallo of Kenosha, Susan (Donald) Mich of Menomonee Falls and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Christensen of Kenosha, her nine grandchildren Jason, Amy, Katie, Marcus, Brett, Andrew, Joe, Melissa and Matt and her 11 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her brothers Michael, Peter and Joseph, her sister Sophie Servais and one sister in infancy.

A Memorial Mass for Helen will be held on Monday, August 20th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (7400 – 39th Ave.). Inurnment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Memorials would be appreciated to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to the Brookside Activity Fund.
